Dollhouse Voyeur Eyes Only

I originally created this piece in early 2010 especially for a show that a gallery in Hyattsville, Maryland was putting on called "Erotica". The artwork was supposed to reflect some form of sexuality but it was supposed to be more than just glorified pornography. I decided to take a more humorous route since I had a few anatomically correct dolls.

Here is the piece in its entirety.

The title of this piece is spelled out in alphabet beads.

Here is where the satire comes in. Each felt flap encourages the viewer to lift the flap...

...only to have wording on the other side of the felt flap scolding the viewer for actually raising the flap to see the photo behind the flap.

This is the first photo behind the flap, which shows two males dolls in front of a men's bathroom background. I used Asian ball-jointed dolls that are anatomically correct, however such dolls are less well known outside of the doll fandom. Frequently the smaller ball-jointed dolls are mistaken for Barbie and Ken. The purpose of this photo is to educate the viewer of the difference between an Asian ball-jointed doll and more mainstream dolls in a humorous way. The doll on the left is a Soul Doll Kimmy as he compares his privates with a Ken doll on the right.

Here is one of the doll sex photos. The furniture in all the photos are Barbie furniture. Both dolls are anatomically correct Asian ball-jointed dolls. The male doll is a Soul Doll Kimmy and the female doll is a Soom Mini-Gem Uyoo. If you look at the television off to the side, you'll see actual porn pictures featuring humans doing the same sexual posisions that the dolls are trying to imitate.

These two dolls are Blythe dolls, which are known for their large heads and big eyes. I included them as a way of surprising the viewer who was expecting another photo of two Asian ball-jointed dolls in soft-port sexual positions. This is the only photo that has no doll nudity at all.

It's back to two dolls trying to emulate what they see humans do on television.
