Dolls

The Purple Fairy 10

Technical Specs:

Type of Doll: Barbie that was purchased used from a thrift store.
Size: 29 cm/11.5 inches
Hair: Dark brown
Eyes: Brown
Lips: Pink
Outfit Description: Wears a dress that originally came with the doll in the thrift store that I slightly altered by gluing metallic silver ribbon on the top (due to the fact that the top of the dress kept on falling down and exposing the doll's breasts). Fairy wings were made out of polymer clay (with details painted with acrylic paint) then glued on the outfit. Fairy ears were made out of air-drying clay before being attached to the doll's head. The ears were painted in flesh color once the clay dried.

Date I Finished Customizing This Doll: July 9, 2007
Sold: 2007 Crafty Bastards Festival, Washington, DC, September 30, 2007

Here is what this doll looked like when I first bought her from the thrift store. Unlike many other used dolls that I've purchased, this one was actually clothed.

Here is a back view of the doll as she originally looked.

Here is the doll after her makeover. I kept the original dress but I had to alter it because the top of the dress front kept on falling down and exposing her breasts. (This was happening BEFORE I glued her wings on.) So I added some silver metallic ribbon to the top of her front so she can keep her modesty.

Fairy ears were made out of air-drying clay before being attached to the doll's head.

The ears were painted in flesh color once the clay dried.
