Type of Doll: Barbie that was purchased used from a thrift store.
Size: 29 cm/11.5 inches
Hair: Black
Eyes: Brown
Lips: Pink
Outfit Description: Wears a dress that I designed using a combination of McCall's Pattern 3897, Dress A (a Barbie-sized fairy outfit) with suggestions from Tina Casey's book Fabulous Fashion Doll Clothing You Can Make. Fairy wings were made out of polymer clay (with details painted with acrylic paint) then glued on the outfit. Accents on the center of the bodice and the front of the skirt were made out of polymer clay then glued on the dress.

Here is what this doll looked like when I first bought her from the thrift store. |
Here is a back view of the doll as she originally looked. |
Here is the doll after her first makeover. I made the dress out of felt with thin black sequin ribbon outlining the waist and the bottom of the dress. |

Fairy ears were made out of air-drying clay before being attached to the doll's head. |
The ears were painted in flesh color once the clay dried. |
After displaying her in a few craft shows, this doll failed to sell. I decided to remove the fairy ears from her head in order to make her look more attractive to potential buyers. |
