The Purple Fairy 4

Technical Specs:

Type of Doll: Barbie that was purchased used from a thrift store.
Size: 29 cm/11.5 inches
Hair: Originally blonde but was dyed purple using a mixture of acrylic paint and water.
Eyes: Blue
Lips: Pink
Outfit Description: Wears Barbie swimsuit with a skirt that I designed using suggestions from Tina Casey's book Fabulous Fashion Doll Clothing You Can Make. Fairy wings were made out of polymer clay then glued on the outfit. Fairy ears were made out of air-drying clay before being attached to the doll's head. The ears were painted in flesh color once the clay dried.

Here is what this doll looked like when I first bought her from the thrift store.

Here is a back view of the doll as she originally looked. Her hair was so wild that I had to use boiling water to get it to lay flat.

Here is the doll after her first makeover. She was pretty much ignored by potential buyers.

When this doll failed to sell, I decided to try dying her hair purple to match her outfit. This photo shows what she looked like after her second makeover. She got a little bit more attention from potential buyers but still no sale.

Here she is after the third customization attempt. I re-dyed her hair in a darker shade of purple. I added a skirt made out of lace (which I dyed using acrylic paint mixed with water) and purple fabric. I also added fairy ears to her head. The third time was the charm since I finally sold her.
