Some people who are new to the idea of collecting articulated dolls may wonder why people are willing to spend more money on a 1/6 scale doll like a Dollfie Plus than even the fanciest limited-edition Barbie doll or why people are willing to spend hundreds of dollars on a single Super Dollfie. I could write plenty of words on how these types of dolls have movements that are more realistic or how many of them are dressed in higher-quality doll clothes or how their hair have a silky feel that makes them seem more life-like. But that still wouldn't do the dolls justice. Instead, I'm just going to post some photos compairing a typical Japanese-imported articulated doll (in this case, a Dollfie Plus) with a typical mass-produced fashion doll that is frequently sold in toy stores at a low price (in this case, I'm using a Kim Possible doll that's based on the hit cartoon series of the same name). As the old saying goes, "A picture is worth a thousand words."

Here are the two dolls standing side by side.

Here are the two dolls standing side by side again. The big difference between the previous photo and this one is that the two dolls have switched outfits.

Here are the two dolls totally naked. Here, you can see the immediate differences between the two. The Dollfie Plus has more articulated joints than the Kim Possible doll. The Dollfie Plus have more realistic breasts than the other doll. The Dollfie Plus is also more anatomically correct throughout the body. If you look closely on the Dollfie Plus' torso, you can see muscular lines that are largely absent from the Kim Possible doll.

So far both dolls are demonstrating nearly identical movements like spreading their arms out to the side and sitting down.

Here is where you can see the real difference between the two dolls. The Dollfie Plus can kneel on her own. The Kim Possible doll tries to kneel but, as you can see, she's having a hard time doing it.

The two dolls are lying down. The Dollfie Plus has her arms folded over her chest, which is what the Kim Possible doll is not capable of doing.
