Kim Possible Doll

This fashion doll is based on this animated series called Kim Possible that currently airs on both the Disney Channel and ABC. (The show is about a high school cheerleader who moonlights as a crime fighter who uses her martial arts skill to put down some of the wackiest villians since Boris and Natasha on the old Rocky & Bullwinkle series.) Let me tell you that as someone named Kim, it's not easy seeing something in pop culture that shares your name. (If I had been named Barbara and my parents nickednamed me "Barbie," I'm sure I'd be telling a different story.)

When a fashion doll based on the series was released in 2003, I bought it. I even went on to use it for a project that I was working on for a Commercial Art I class that I was taking at the time. Basically I had to design a logo and build a media campaign to raise awareness of the logo. I came up with "the official doll" of the group that I was supposively designing the logo for. I took a doll outfit, customized it with the logo using a combination of a print-out t-shirt transfer and paint, and had Kim Possible model it. (In some ways, I could easily say that it was the first time I ever did any kind of doll customization.) My project was submitted to the Fall 2003 Student Art Show at my school and it was accepted. You can see photos from my project and how it looked in the Student Art Show.
