Dolls

Sakura

Her name means "cherry blossoms" in Japanese. Sakura is the first 1/3 scale ball-jointed doll that I've ever customized.

Technical Specs:

Type of Doll: Volks Dollfie Dream (Version 1 Body)
Size: 58 cm/22 inches
Head/Body: Volks Dollfie Dream. I used the default head that came with the body.
Hair: Wears a size 9 doll wig.
Eyes: Blue eyes painted directly on the face using acrylic paint and a matte varnish.
Face/Fingernails/Toenails: Pink lips, fingernails, and toenails painted directly on the body using acrylic paints and a matte varnish.
Body Blushing: After a few failed attempts, I finally got it right when I found a local supplier of both Mr. Super Clear and Mr. Top Coat for reasonable prices. I sprayed the areas to be blushed with Mr. Super Clear twice (I held the spray about 12 inches away from the doll). Once the sprayed areas dried, I took acrylic paint and watered it down until it had a consistency that resembled watercolors. I applied blushing to the doll's cheeks, nipples, navel, vagina, and anal opening. When I was finished, I sprayed the doll with wo layers of Mr. Top Coat (again I held the spray about 12 inches away from the doll).

Date I Finished Customizing This Doll: January 26, 2005
