It's pretty obvious why I named this doll "The Lady in Red With a Fan." I unsuccessfully attempted to sell her on eBay in December, 2004. I sold her the following month as part of a joint eBay/Mission Fish charity effort to raise money for the victims of the tsunami that struck on December 26, 2004. (All of the procceeds went to UNICEF.)
Type of Doll: Volks Dollfie Plus
Size: 27 cm/11 inches
Head: Volks Custom Hair Head C
Body: Volks EB Beauty A
Hands: Volks NEO Gloved Hands (The gloves were originally brown but they were subsequently painted in red.)
Hair Color: Dark Blonde
Eyes: Green eyes painted directly on the face using acrylic paint and a matte varnish.
Lips: Red lips painted directly on the face using acryllic paints and a matte varnish.
Outfit Description: The gown was based on McCall's Pattern 8552, Dress C. The gown was hand-sewn from a sparkly red spandex material with a floral accent. The Lady in Red wears a pair of shoes that was originally made for a Barbie doll but was painted in red using Liquidtex Cadmium Red Hue Deep acrylic paint as the first layer and Liquidtex Ruby Acrylic Artist Color Liquigems as the top layer. I painted the gloved hands in a similar fashion using the same materials as the shoes. The necklace was hand-strung with faux pearls that were purchased from a local art supply store. The Lady in Red wears her hair in a ponytail that's tied by a red ribbon. The Lady in Red carries a fan that originally came with the Limitied Edition Japanese Bratz Doll Tiana that I had purchased. I appropriated the fan from Tiana because I felt it looked better with this doll.
Date I Finished Customizing This Doll: November 21, 2004
Sold on eBay: January 10, 2005
