Blondie in the City

When I finished her outfit, it reminded me of the clothes I've seen on the television show Sex in the City. This doll has that hip urban look. I unsuccessfully attempted to sell her on eBay in December, 2004. I sold her the following month as part of a joint eBay/Mission Fish charity effort to raise money for the victims of the tsunami that struck on December 26, 2004. (All of the procceeds went to UNICEF.)

Eyes: Violet eyes painted directly on the face using acrylic paint and a matte varnish.
Lips: Red lips painted directly on the face using acryllic paints and a matte varnish.
Outfit Description: Blondie in the City wears white underwear, which originally came with the doll. The rest of the outfit was based on McCall's Pattern 8552—Dress F, Coat G, and Purse G. Dress was hand-sewn out of a red sparkly spandex material. Coat was hand-sewn out of heavy dark navy blue felt accented with gold heart-shaped buttons and lined with fake fur. Purse was hand-sewn out of the same fake fur that was used in lining the coat's collar and sleeves with handles made from dark navy blue felt. Blondie in the City wears a pair of shoes that were originally made for a Skipper doll but was painted in red using Liquidtex Cadmium Red Hue Deep acrylic paint as the first layer and Liquidtex Ruby Acrylic Artist Color Liquigems as the top layer.
