This is the doll that I customized as a Christmas present to my mother in 2004. She kept it by her bedside until 2008, when her health grew bad enough that she had to move in with one of my cousins. She didn't have the space for the angel in her new place so I took the doll back to live with my other dolls.
Type of Doll: Volks Dollfie Plus
Size: 27 cm/11 inches
Head/Body: Volks Dollfie Plus (originally released in 2002, this is the earliest Dollfie Plus body that Volks has released) that I purchased from Hobby Link Japan.
Hair: Used a size 4 Mini Erika wig that I purchased from All About Dolls.com. The hair is platinum blonde with pink ribbons. I glued the wig on the head permanently using doll hair glue that I purchased from a local Michaels Arts & Crafts.
Eyes: Volks 8mm lavender acrylic eyes.
Lips: Pink lips, blonde eyebrows, and black eyeliner painted directly on the face using acryllic paints and a matte varnish.
Outfit Description: The dress was originally a wedding gown that was made for Barbie's friend Erika and was sold by Mattel as part of its "The Princess and the Pauper" line. (It also came with an outfit that's suitable for a prince groom, which I would later use to clothe The Blue Prince.) The shoes were originally made for Barbie that I painted white to match the dress. The silver wings were purchased from A.C. Moore's and were initially glued on the dress then sewn along some of the wing edges for reinforcement.
Date I Finished Customizing This Doll: December 23, 2004

The Angel Dollfie poses next to the angelic Pullip ALa doll still in her box. (I later gave that Pullip doll to someone else as a present.) |
